Whole body cryotherapy is a treatment in which the body is exposed to ultra-low temperatures, typically between -110 degrees Celsius and -130 degrees Celsius, for one to three minutes. This exposure starts a cascade of physiological events within the human body, starting with vasoconstriction. This vasoconstriction redirects blood from the peripheral vasculature into the body’s core, which enriches the body with oxygen, nutrients, and enzymes. This vasoconstriction can also shuttle built up toxins such as lactic acid into the core to promote excretion. Upon exiting the chamber, vasodilation occurs, rapidly circulating this enriched blood back into the body’s periphery and promoting excretion of waste products and toxins.
